Project of the Year 2017
Alliance members and partners from all countries and cities face a lot of interesting and important projects. Summing up the results of year 2017 ACEX top managers told us about them.
For ACEX member in Voronezh the most significant project was related to the preparation for FIFA that will be held in Russia in 2018. The organization of this event pulls together efforts made by a great number of companies. “In June our company delivered equipment for a new FIFA stadium. The cargo was delivered from Volgograd to our storage and from there it was delivered at the stadium,” Andrey Andreyev, commercial director at LANKS says.
BSSS in Novorossiysk made their contribution to the construction of a nuclear power plant in Bangladesh. “It is the most large-scale project. The shipments were made from Russia and Belarus to Chittagong port (Bangladesh), the equipment shipped was intended for the first stage of construction of the plant,” Denis Bobrakov says. In total 40 containers within 2 months were shipped, from 1 to 10 containers a week. “The difficulty was that a schedule of deliveries was very strict,” Denis says, “in Chittagong port there was a block because the port couldn’t process such a big number of containers. The deadlines moved from 30 to 50 days and it was unacceptable. We had to negotiate with the lines so they would give priority to our cargo.”
The transportation of the electric distribution boxes for a power company from Yekaterinburg to Magadan is remembered by VST-Logistic, ACEX Yekaterinburg in the last year. “The main peculiarity of the transportation was undoubtedly the dimensions of the cargo! Its weight was 9 tons and it could hardly fit into the plane. And it was highly fragile,” Vadim Mardanov, CEO at VST Logistic says. “It had a lot of electronic connections, and if they are not handled carefully they could be easily broken. It was not a big problem to fix it but to find a defect might take plenty of time.”
Transportation of parts for aviation simulators from St. Petersburg to the capital of Venezuela – Caracas became one of the most interesting projects for SLS Agency. The parts are screens that precisely transfer feelings of take-off, maneuvering, landing and flight in a turbulence zone. "The length of the screens was 4,5 meters, and these are considerable dimensions for air transportation, from St. Petersburg, the there are no planes that are capable to contain such dimension freights in St.Petersburg. ACEX in Finland helped us with this issue," Evgeniy Apasov comments. From Helsinki after passing of all necessary formalities the freight went to Caracas through Miami where the agents of ACEX coordinated by the agency network coordinator Evgeniya Vidulina accepted it. But the freight stayed in Miami for two weeks as in Venezuela there were mass riots with armed conflicts. The freight in such conditions couldn’t be accepted. As soon as the riots have ceased a little, the agent of ACEX quickly accepted the freight at the airport, and further brought it to the final recipient. "This project was remembered not by the difficulties we had but by the partnership connections developed by Alliance that promoted successful implementation of the project even in such conditions," Evgeniy Apasov says.
The Agency of Customs Logistics in 2017 could grant its customers a delay of payment for the rendered services. It was a key moment for GM AvtoVAZ, and the Agency was among the companies certified for the rendering of international forwarding services to this car manufacturer. However, to work at the target rates according to the contract signed between the companies turned out not to be easy and the first transportation was realized only several months later after the contract signing.
"Further, increasing the number of the fulfilled requests defined our niche. it is transportation of combined freights from the countries of Central Europe,” Andrey Smirnov, the CEO of the Agency of Customs Logistics, ACEX in the Samara region comments. “Thanks to consolidation of freights of several customers who are in the Samara region we managed to keep the required rates. And at the end of the year we started export transportations to the south of Europe".
RusTrans highlights the transportation of steel plates from Austria for the largest Russian producer of the equipment for oil, gas and petrochemical industries. The plates are intended for manufacturing of processing equipment that will be installed at one of the plants soon, in total there were 30 pieces of large dimensions. "We had a task to develop the best route and method of transportation for the customer’s each order since all of the plates were of various size," RusTrans CEO, Oleg Degtyarev comments. Thus, freights from Austria went by sea, by rail and even by road until they its destination in Volgograd.
It was difficult for CARGO EXPRESS, ACEX in Moscow to choose one project. Therefore they have mentioned a number of transportations, among them there are ATMs and the equipment for poultry farming, fabrics from Poland, China and England, fuel preparation equipment from Saratov to Tanzania, industrial compressor from Kaluga to Casablanca, a detail of river and sea vessels for the Russian manufacturing enterprises, and even phytosanitary freight from Peru to Moscow.
For the Alliance members from abroad the year was also filled with interesting projects that affected all types of transportation. In the aviation sphere ASE Air Sea Express, ACEX in Taiwan developed export and import to Europe, Africa, Middle East and India. Among the most memorable projects there are transportation of the yacht from Turkey to Japan, radioactive materials from Taiwan to Montreal and a huge tuna fish from Japan to Taipei.
FANS TRANS, ACEX Hong Kong developed a sustainable flow to Israel. “Much work related to search of an agent in this country was done. Business in Israel is marked by respect and individual approach. Today we have a sustainable LCL cargo flow around 10 tons every week,” Ken Hui, CEO at FANS TRANS says.
Speaking about sea freight the most significant project for AIRON Logistics, Alliance member in Turkey was transportation of 90 containers from Ambarli port to Algeria. The freight contained of equipment and spare parts for the construction of a plant.
Interesting projects haven’t left aside the sphere of road transportation as well. INGSTAD & Co, ACEX Lithuania has vivid memories related to transportation of over-dimensioned elements for construction of a complex in the center of Stockholm. The route was from Lithuania to Sweden. Within the last two months of 2017 more than 6000 tons of cargo was shipped. The project is to be continued in 2018.
We wish all ACEX members further successful implementation of new and interesting projects that will make a substantial contribution to the experience and development of the Alliance and each of its members.
